Design Process

Initial Sketches

The design process began with hand-drawn studies exploring scale, rhythm, and line direction within each dot.

Through sketching, I refined the relationship between spacing and density to achieve a balanced composition that maintained movement while staying visually cohesive.

These initial explorations set the foundation for the print’s clean, modern character.

Illustrations

By rendering the pattern on garment silhouettes, I evaluated how the hatch texture interacted with drape, seam lines, and body movement. This stage helped finalize placement and confirmed that the print enhances, rather than competes with, the garment structure.

Print Repeat Scale

The repeat was developed to ensure the design remained consistent across fabric types and garment silhouettes.

Adjustments in dot placement and hatch density were made to preserve balance and readability from both near and far.

The resulting layout maintains visual flow and adaptability for various applications, from lightweight cotton to structured textiles.

Moodboard

The moodboard established the aesthetic direction through color, texture, and tone references. Inspired by natural light, soft textures, and fresh summer hues, the palette emphasizes clarity and wearability. Each reference image contributed to defining the print’s approachable yet refined sensibility.

Colorways

Six colorways were developed: Melon, Dragon Fruit, Guava, Grape, Lemon Lime, and Blueberry. Each palette variation highlights a different mood while maintaining overall cohesion. The collection allows for both seasonal flexibility and diverse product application across womenswear and accessories.

Print on Fabric

The print was tested on multiple fabric types to assess texture, saturation, and line sharpness. On cotton jersey knit, the pattern achieves a soft, breathable look. The design maintains its integrity across scales, offering flexibility for both apparel and interior applications.
